The Italian government approves three-year plan and supplementary decree for the entry of foreign workers

The Italian government has made important decisions regarding the planning of the entry of foreign workers into the country. In particular, a three-year plan for the period 2023-2025 has been approved, which envisions over 450,000 entries for employment. The categories of professions and productive sectors involved are being expanded, putting an end to the use of temporary measures. With an incremental approach, the aim is to gradually reduce the gap between entry flows and the labour market demand, taking the capacity to accommodate and integrate foreign workers into local communities. In detail, the government plans a total of 452,000 entries for the three-year period 2023-2025, in response to a detected demand of 833,000 units. The annual quotas are distributed as follows:

136,000 entries in 2023

151,000 entries in 2024

165,000 entries in 2025

Among the innovations introduced, in addition to professions such as electricians and plumbers, a specific quota is reinstated for workers in the family and socio-healthcare sectors. For seasonal subordinate work, the sectors involved remain agriculture and tourism-hospitality. The government has also reserved specific quotas for agriculture and tourism, for workers from countries of origin or transit that sign agreements to facilitate regular migration and combat irregular migration.
