Publication of the report on labour and forced marriages by Oil, Iom and WalkFree
“According to data from the UN Labour Organization report, about 86% of cases of forced labour are in the private sector. The ILO Convention on Forced Labour, number 29 of 1930, defines as forced labour “any work or service that is claimed by someone under threat of any punishment and for which he has not volunteered”.
The most vulnerable remain women and children: almost one in eight forced labourers is a child (3.3 million). In addition to women and children, migrants are three times more likely to be involved in forced labour than non-migrant adult workers.
