Helpdesk on the road: fighting labour exploitation
The Helpdesk against labor exploitation during tours is operational in providing support to migrant populations in the countryside and urban areas of Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, and Sicilia. The Helpdesk is staffed by a dedicated and qualified team of professionals, including cultural mediators and legal experts. Thanks to this team, it offers a multichannel and multilingual service in languages such as Italian, English, French, Arabic, Pidgin, Edo/Benin, Wolof, Mandinka, Fula, and Pular, Urdu, Pashtu. This service aims to assist workers in emerging from conditions of labor exploitation and facilitate their access to local support services.
To effectively reach potential beneficiaries and raise awareness about its services, the Help Desk is conducting a tour in the five regions of Southern Italy between May and June. During this tour, it will engage in outreach activities in areas where migrant workers are most concentrated based on the seasonality of crops. The Helpdesk will engage with individuals and groups experiencing severe marginalization and exclusion, including victims and potential victims of labor exploitation.
Specifically, the Helpdesk will carry out initial contact and listening activities, as well as provide information, advice, and guidance to the local service network. Each stage of the tour will have a legal expert and a linguistic-cultural mediator present.
