New rules for the entry of highly qualified foreign workers in Italy

The landscape of immigration in Italy is poised to undergo changes, thanks to the recent legislative decree 152/2023, published on November 2nd in the Official Gazette and effective as of November 17th. This new regulation not only broadens the spectrum of highly qualified foreign workers who will be able to enter Italy through the EU Blue Card but also introduces significant simplifications and facilitations.

The decree significantly expands the number of workers affected by this channel, opening up new opportunities for those who wish to apply their skills in the Italian territory. The EU Blue Card thus becomes an even more accessible means for highly qualified professionals from various parts of the world. This not only promotes the development of a highly skilled workforce but also contributes to the overall economic growth of the country.

The decree establishes less stringent requirements for the duration of the employment contract and salary, making the hiring process more flexible and adaptable to the needs of both businesses and workers. In addition to streamlining entry and residence procedures, the decree aims to promote family reunification, recognizing the importance of keeping family units together.
